Description

A guided walking tour of Pistoia through its medieval centre, with the Ospedale del Ceppo and San Giovanni Fuoricivitas, finishing in Piazza della Sala with an aperitif.

This guided walking tour of Pistoia is an easy introduction to a well-kept medieval town. Your guide waits in the centre of town, from where you stroll through the old streets, taking in the main sights and a few unexpected works of art along the way.

Two stops stand out. The Ospedale del Ceppo (its name means hospital of the log) is known for its striking facade, while San Giovanni Fuoricivitas, a church, holds further fine works. The Duomo is on the route too.

Close by is Piazza della Sala, where the walk finishes among market stalls, artisan workshops, wine bars and cafes. The group settles in for an Italian aperitivo, with wine or an Aperol spritz and a light lunch, a relaxed end to a morning of art and history.

  • Guided tour of the historic centre with a local guide
  • Ospedale del Ceppo, San Giovanni Fuoricivitas and the Duomo
