Description

The church of Saints Prospero and Philip is located in the center of the city.

Initially dedicated to Saint Prospero, the church passed to the fathers of the Order of the Nail at the beginning of the 17th century, who renovated it; on the altars were placed paintings of considerable value, among which the Flagellation by Giovanni Lanfranco.

In 1666 it was granted to the fathers of the oratory of Saint Philip Neri. In the 18th century, other works were carried out, including the frescoes on the dome, by Gian Domenico Ferretti, and the arrangement of the façade. In 1726 Cardinal Fabroni donated his collection of books to the Pistoia Curia on the condition that it be placed in a library open to the public, and to this end he had the vast environment above the church of San Filippo restored and a lateral access staircase added.
